Simple ways to reduce waste after Halloween.
If you celebrate Halloween, you know we’re often left with old pumpkins. Carved or not, there are lots of ways to reuse or recycle them. Here’s what you can do:
- Feed the wildlife - Cut your pumpkin into small pieces and leave it out for animals. Deer, rabbits, and squirrels will all take a liking to it. You can even put any excess seeds in a feeder for the birds.
- Plant for the year - Collect the seeds and save them for planting next year.
- Compost - Pumpkins are about 90% water, which means they break down quickly. Cut them into pieces and place them in your compost bin.
